A 72-year-old woman died Friday when the car she was driving collided with another vehicle and ended up in Charlotte Amalie harbor, police said.

The woman was identified by next of kin as Evelyn Edwards.

According to the VIPD, at 6:39 a.m. Edwards was driving a Nissan Murano east on Veterans Drive. She collided with a van heading west. The Murano continued onto the waterfront apron and into the water.

Edwards was pulled from the submerged vehicle and transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center, where she received medical treatment before succumbing to her injuries.
