Two Homes Broken Into in Estate Thomas

Two home were broken into early Monday in Estate Thomas, and women in the homes were accosted by the suspect, according to the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at 2:14 a.m. Monday officers were dispatched to Estate Thomas after a woman called 911 to report she had been awakened by an unknown male in her residence.

The woman, whose name was not released by the police, said she screamed “someone is in the house” to alert her other family members. The male then began to chase her around the house, the woman said. She told police she was able to elude the suspect and he fled her residence in an unknown direction.

No injuries or loss of property were reported during this incident.

A little more than an hour later, at 3:37 a.m., a second woman called 911 and reported that she had woken up in the night and, while walking to her bathroom, discovered an unknown male in her residence.

The woman told police the attacker held her around her neck while holding a knife in his hand. She screamed, which alerted her son who then confronted the intruder. The man fled the residence in an unknown direction.

No injuries or loss of property were reported.

Police urged anyone with information about the two incidents to contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 ext. 5608 or 5556. They also can contact 911, the Chief’s office at 340-715-5548, the Commissioner’s office at 340-715-5506, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers V.I., at 1-800-222-8477.

The VIPD urged resident to secure their homes, even if they are leaving for a short period of time and to avoid placing valuable items in front of windows, or directly in the window’s line of site.
