The V.I. Police Department on Monday arrested 39-year-old Omari Lewis and charged him with third-degree assault/domestic violence after an incident the previous week.

According to police, an adult female reported that at about 3 a.m. Nov 20 a male acquaintance struck her in the right eye with a handheld radio. She said she had to go to the Schneider Regional Medical Center that morning for treatment to the eye.

The victim told police her eye was black and blue, swollen shut. She said the bone below the eye was fractured. Her eyebrow was glued together and she obtained two sutures to the bottom portion of her eye to close a laceration.

At about 7 p.m. Monday Lewis was present in the Criminal Investigation Bureau, where he declined to give a statement.
