Representatives from Alpha Mortgage presented a check for $10,000 on Friday, Nov. 17, to Sarah Hughes, co-founder and executive director of the Virgin Islands Children’s Museum (VICM).
The museum suffered catastrophic damage during hurricanes Irma and Maria, and while it is striving to rebuild and fulfill the organization’s mission, community partners, including Alpha Mortgage Advisors Inc., have stepped up to assist with the museum’s new concept: a mobile educational museum.
The VICM Mobile Museum is an educational outreach program initiated to bring the experience of the VICM into the community. The educational programs are conducted directly on-site. The Mobile Museum requires a space to set up for the day, such as an empty classroom, library, somewhere with desks or tables. A session capacity is limited to 16 children.
