Suspect Arrested in Estate Thomas Homicide

At 6:30 a.m., Sunday, the V.I. Police Department arrested Michael Hendrickson and charged him with first-degree homicide in the Saturday shooting death of 40-year-old Dwight Green.

According to the VIPD, the Major Crime Unit was dispatched at 6:27 p.m. to Estate Thomas in response to a report of a shooting victim. At the scene, officers found a black male lying on his back, on the ground with what appeared to be blood coming from his head. Emergency medical personnel examined the victim and found no vital signs.

The deceased was transported to the morgue and was later identified by next of kin as Green.

At 6:30 a.m., Sunday, the 27-year-old Hendrickson turned himself in to law enforcement. He was charged with first-degree murder and turned over to Bureau of Corrections Detention Center, pending an advice of rights hearing.

This case is under investigation by the Major Crime Unit. Police urged anyone with information about the crime to contact the VIPD at 774-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
