Home Depot Employee Charged with Embezzlement

Tasanique Murrel, a 26-year-old cashier at Home Depot, was arrested Wednesday and charged with embezzlement, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According tot he VIPD, officers and a team from the Criminal Investigation Bureau were called to the Charlotte Amalie store Wednesday in reference to an employee who allegedly had embezzled money.

The store’s loss-prevention manager told the officers he had been notified of the matter and conducted his own investigation. He said he noticed Murrell voiding several items and allowing the customer to leave the store with the unpaid items.

The loss-prevention manager said the incident occurred more than once with the same cashier and the same customer.

Murrel was arrested and charged with for grand larceny and petit larceny. Bail was set at $75,000.
