Man Wounded in Second Smith Bay Shooting

A second shooting incident in the Smith Bay area the same day as a homicide sent a St. Thomas man to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound, the V.I. Police Department said.

According to police, at 9:28 p.m. Tuesday the 911 emergency call center received a report of shots being fired in Smith Bay in the vicinity of Lake’s Fried Chicken.

Officers arrived at the scene and learned that a male victim had been shot and transported by private vehicle to the Schneider Regional Medical Center.

Detectives from the Major Crime Unit interviewed the victim at the hospital. The man, whose name was not released by police, had been multiple times.

He told the police he had been walking in the Smith Bay area when heard four or five fired and realized he had been hit.

The shooting took place only about 10 hours after 35-year-old Alldix Callwood was shot and killed while walking in the Smith Bay area. (See related links.)
