Service Interruptions Affect Potable Water Customers

Repair work on two leaking water mains Sunday have interrupted potable water service to customers on St. Thomas, the Water and Power Authority reported.

Water distribution crews were making emergency repairs Sunday to a leaking 10-inch water main on Moravian Highway adjacent to the Sherwin Williams paint store. Customers west of the VITEMA building, including the Contant Knolls community, will experience a water service interruption until approximately 7 p.m.

The emergency repairs will also impact traffic flow. The right, west-bound lane on Moravian Highway will not be passable during the repairs and perhaps not reopened to vehicular traffic until Monday morning, WAPA said.

Earlier Sunday, crews began unrelated emergency repairs to a leaking main in Savan which affected service at the Savan pump station. A water service interruption was experienced in portions of Savan, Annas Fancy and Solberg. WAPA expected to restore service by 5 p.m..
