A traffic accident toppled a utility pole near the Nadir basketball court at around 4 p.m. Friday, cutting electrical service to almost 3,500 customers, according to the V.I. Water and Power Authority. Line crews have successfully isolated the immediate area around the accident and restored power to most of the affected customers, WAPA said.
As of shortly after 6 p.m., a small area from the Nadir bridge intersection to the Nadir basketball court was still experiencing an electrical service interruption. Service to the affected 214 customers will be restored by about 9 p.m. according to WAPA, and its crews are now working to replace the pole and eventually restore service to the area.
