Three men shot in a drive-by shooting in the Smith Bay area of St. Thomas Sunday afternoon were treated for various gunshot wounds at the Schneider Regional Medical Center, the V.I. Police Department reported.
Police received a report of shots fired in the area at approximately 4:11 p.m. Sunday. Shortly after, the three male victims – described by a source close to police as being younger than 30 years of age – arrived at the emergency room with gunshot wounds. They had been transported by private vehicle.
One of the victims told police the three had been sitting on the corner in the area of the old Romano’s Restaurant when a gray colored vehicle drove by and masked men in the car began firing shots towards them. The other two victims did not provide police with any information.
The case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Police urged anyone with information regarding the incident to call the bureau at 340-774-2211 ext. 5579 or 5557, the 911 emergency call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
