Jean M. Liburd Dies

Jean M. Liburd Jean M. Liburd died on Jan. 21.

A viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, at St. Andrew’s Church. Interment will be held at Western Cemetery No. 1.

She is survived by her daughters: Julie Mae Pickering (Bebe), Julene Grant-Ward (Cha-Cha) and Mildred Gumbs (Millie); sons: Ervin Grant (Iesu) and Ebson Gumbs (Butchie); grandchildren: John A. Huyghue Jr., Michael Francis Jr., Michelle and Janelle Ward, Khalisha, Khamisha, Jaheel, LaDelle, Shenisha, Shekniah Grant, Kishma, Kameel, and Kadeem Emanuel and Omar Gumbs; and great-grandchildren: Zeigh and Elijah Huyghue, Ke’Shaun, Shyahni, Ahmoni Whitley, Ly’Sandra Stamps-Suarez, Jah’Kai Jameson, Saul King Lewis, Kayden and Kenyon Jr. Goins.

She is also survived by her sister, Crisilda Liburd-Simmons; brothers: James H. Liburd, Daniel (Bobby) Liburd Jr., and Ronald (Johnny) Liburd; sisters-in-law: Vashti Liburd and Darnell Liburd; brother-in-law, Aaron Simmons; daughter-in-law: Rosemary (Jeannie) Hamilton Grant; son-in-law: Howard Lee Ward II; godchildren: Theron Cornwall, Melikwa Sylvester, Necia Hodge, Lushavon Henley and Murvin (Pappie) Abramson Jr.; and special nieces: Juliet Todman (Janet), June Brathwaite (Tiny) and Mary Rose Brathwaite.

Other survivors include special nephew, Alvin Brathwaite; special great nephew, Dan “Danny” Frett; special cousin, Cynthia Mclean King; nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews and cousins too numerous to mention; the McClean, Claxton, Pemberton, Nibbs, Todman, Brathwaite, Grant and Bartlett families; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Attendees are asked to wear festive colors, and instead of flowers or wreaths to please make donations to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church (Martha Soup Kitchen) P.O. Box 7386 St. Thomas, V.I. 00801.
