The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has appointed Hipólito “C.J.” Castro as its new senior area manager on St. Thomas, announced SBA Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands District Director Yvette T. Collazo.
As senior area manager, Castro is responsible for delivering SBA programs and services in the areas of capital access, counseling and technical assistance, and federal contracting throughout St. Thomas and St. John.
“We couldn’t be happier that SBA once again has a physical presence in St. Thomas after more than 20 years, by hiring a senior area manager,” said SBA District Director Yvette T. Collazo. “Hipólito brings over three decades of commercial banking experience and is an accomplished financial management services professional with results-based performance.”
Castro arrived at the SBA in 2015, occupying various positions at the Kentucky and California Loan Guaranty Processing Centers. Previously, he served at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as the resolution and receivership specialist, facilitating the sale and transition of numerous portfolios of financial institutions and their real estate assets.
Before joining the federal government, he worked in the commercial banking industry, where he held such positions as senior credit policy officer, and senior vice president of commercial lending and business banking divisions.
Castro can be reached at 244-4942 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
