Spirit Cancels Flights to St. Thomas

Spirit Airlines canceled four flights to St. Thomas on Thursday and Friday because of Hurricane Matthew, which is expected to sweep along the eastern coast of the United States in the next 48 hours.

It was the second airline to announce flight cancellations because of the storm. On Wednesday, American Airlines canceled six flights to and from the territory out of Miami.

According to Carlton Dowe, executive director of the V.I. Port Authority, the canceled flights are Sprit’s flights 201 and 212 both Thursday and Friday.
