Answer Desk: No Word Yet on Ferry Between St. Croix and St. Thomas

We’re sorry, but we don’t have an answer to the most recent inquiry about ferry service between St. Croix and St. Thomas, as Bob and Jack queried the Source’s Answer Desk.

The 100-foot vessel has been built and launched at Gold Coast Yachts on St. Croix, and is still undergoing U.S. Coast Guard sea trials, according to Warren Mosler, the boat’s owner.

Last Tuesday, Mosler said the QE IV has completed testing in 3.5-foot seas. Now it will face six-foot seas. He said he has no idea when the sea trials will be completed nor when ferry services will begin.

Mosler said he believes all licenses and permits are in place. He also said he still plans to charge passengers $50 one-way. The ticket office will be in Gallows Bay in the same space as the previous ferry service.
