Reigning world champion super heavyweight boxer Tony Yoka of France ended the Olympic dreams of Virgin Islander Clayton Laurent Jr., defeating the St. Thomas boxer on points, 3-0, according to NBC Sports.

Yoka is seeking a second gold medal to add to the one he won at the 2012 games in London. He is scheduled to meet Jordanian fighter Hussein Iashaish Tuesday morning in the quarterfinals.

Laurent surprised the boxing world in his first Olympics appearance, defeating German Erik Pfeifer 2-1 Tuesday.

In other Olympic action, Cy Thompson finished 16th in Saturday’s Men’s Laser sailing competition, leaving him outside looking in for Monday’s medal round.
