Shooting Victim Won’t Talk to Police

A 34-year-old man was treated for a gunshot wound Wednesday morning, but refused to cooperate with police in explaining the circumstances of the assault, the V.I. Police Department said.

At roughly 7 a.m. Wednesday, police received notification from the Schneider Regional Medical Center that the emergency room was treating a gunshot victim.

Officers responding to the call met with the victim, whose name was not released. According to the VIPD, the man proved to be uncooperative in explaining the circumstances surrounding his having been shot.

Police believe the man may have been involved in another incident that occurred in the Tutu Highrise Housing Community earlier that morning, where the discharge of gunfire was reported. The gunshot victim seeking treatment appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound to the buttocks.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident to call the Major Crimes Unit at 340-642-8449, 911 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
