Firefighters fought a blaze at Andrew’s Auto Repair in Estate Contant early Monday morning, putting it out before 9 a.m., according to Government House. Fourteen vehicles and the garage were destroyed by the fire. The neighboring nightclub and restaurant was heavily damaged by smoke and water.
Firefighters from Hotel Company responded to a 911 call about the fire at No. 9 Estate Contant at 4:17 a.m. and found the one story garage fully engulfed in flames. Fire units from the Bordeaux, Dorothea and Anna’s Retreat stations joined the effort.
Firefighters surrounded the building and extinguished the blaze within four hours, according to a statement from Government House.
After the fire was out, firefighters continued to work on salvage and put out hotspots as they found them.
The Fire Service’s arson unit was called to the scene and is investigating.
The units on scene returned to their duty stations at 8:20 a.m.
