Police ID Whim Victim, Detail Kingshill Shooting

The V.I. Police Department has identified the victim in a Friday homicide in Estate Whim Hill as Jermaine Williams, and provided details of a shooting that took place Saturday in Kingshill and left one man seriously ill.

At roughly 3:45 p.m. Friday, 911 dispatchers notified officers of multiple gun shots having been fired in Estate Whim. Arriving at the scene, the responding officers found Williams’ unresponsive body.

Williams had been sitting in his vehicle in front of the Georges Christian Academy Daycare Center. While his girlfriend went in to pick up their child, he had waited in the car. An unknown male drove up to Williams’ vehicle and shot him with a high-powered weapon, then fled the scene.

It was the ninth homicide on St. Croix since the first of the year, the 24th in the territory. The shooting also touched off a string of what believe are retaliation shootings aqcross the island.

At 11:10 a.m. Saturday the 911 center received a report of a shooting at the intersection of Clifton Hill and Kingshill on the Queen Mary Highway (Centerline Road,) adjacent to the St. Croix Central High School.

Officers discovered the victim of the shooting, a 32 year-old black male whose name has not been released, laying in the street with what appeared to have been multiple gunshot wounds about his body. The victim’s vehicle had been struck by numerous projectiles, police said, and spent shell-casings were seen throughout the intersection.

Traffic through the crossroad was stopped and detoured, as an ambulance transported the victim to the JFL Hospital, where he was treated for multiple gunshot wounds to his upper extremities and both legs.

There are no known suspects involved with the shooting and the condition of the individual is unknown at this time.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau are investigating the incident.
