Police on Friday arrested Ariel Benyehudah after officers responding to a report of gunfire discovered an indoor marijuana growing operation, according to the V.I. Police Department.
At about 1:30 p.m. Friday, officers with the Investigation Bureau, Special Operations Unit responded to the report of gunfire in Bonne Esperance. At the residence, the officers saw a a damaged front door and what appeared to be blood on the floor.
Entering the residence, the officers discovered 212 marijuana plants being grown in two air- conditioned rooms with artificial lighting, police said.
The occupant of the residence, the 31-year-old Benyehudah, was found by the officers in the area of Fortuna and was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
Bail was set at $10,000. Benyehudah was unable to post bail and was processed and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.
