A 22-year-old man was found shot to death Monday night in Estate Anna’s Retreat.
It was the 12th homicide on St. Thomas this year, and the fourth in a bloody weekend. The island had gone almost two months – since March 12 – without a homicide. That relative calm was broken with the weekend stabbing death of two older tourists in Estate Sapphire, followed by the daylight Monday shooting of a 34-year-old man in downtown Charlotte Amalie.
Monday’s death was the 17th homicide in the territory since Jan. 1.
According to a V.I. Police Department report issued Tuesday, the 911 emergency call center received a report at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday of shots fired in the roadway parallel to Holy Family Catholic Church in Anna’s Retreat.
Responding officers converged on the scene and found the body of an unresponsive man who’d sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The body was later identified as being 22 year-old Tishawn VanHolten.
