V.I. law forbids bars and restaurants from selling distilled liquor or mixed drinks from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Good Friday, but wine and beer are not mentioned in the law and are not affected, according to the Division of Licensing and Consumer Affairs.
Earlier this week, DLCA issued a notice to businesses of the liquor ban and noise ordinance, reminding them of the potential for a $200 fine.
Asked for clarification, DLCA Commissioner Devin Carrington told the USVI Hotel and Tourism Association in an email that "(b)eer and wine would not be included within the definition of that term. Therefore it is fine to serve beer and wine during the hours of 9-4 on Friday."
