Lovett No. 4 in the World in 110m Hurdles, No. 1 in Central America, Caribbean in 60m Hurdles

The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation (VITFF) has announced that team member Eddie Lovett, a senior at the University of Florida, has started his 2014 outdoor season and is ranked number four in the world in the 110m hurdles.
After a challenging photo finish title defense for a close second in the 60m hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championships last month, Lovett is on course to challenge for the outdoor title as well. He achieved the ranking at the 2014 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays over the weekend, where he was in a photo finish with Wayne Davis of Texas A & M. Davis took first in 13.45 and Lovett second, with both receiving the same time 13.45. Lovett beat Davis to take second place in the NCAA 60m Indoor Hurdles event. The 13.45 was wind aided. Lovett ran his best time of the year in the preliminary round at Texas in 13.62, which was the fastest qualifier in the meet. His personal best is 13.39 the V.I. National Record. The Texas performance places him at No. 1 in the IAAF ranking and No. 1 in The Central America and Caribbean.
