Police Identify Victim of Estate Richmond Homicide

Police on Thursday identified the victim of the fatal shooting that took place Wednesday afternoon in the Estate Richmond area.

According to the V.I. Police Department, the man found shot to death in the street was 34-year-old Vernon James.

When officers arrived at the residential block between the David H. Jackson Terrace and the abandoned Ralph de Chabert community shortly after 1 p.m., they found James’ unresponsive body. Emergency medical technicians could not detect any vital signs and the victim was transported to the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are seeking the community’s assistance to solve this crime. Anyone with information can call detectives at 1-340-712-6077 or 1-340-712-6037, the 911 emergency center or the anonymous tip service, Crimes Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.

A text message can be sent by sending “USVI” plus a message to CRIMES or 274637.
