Man Robbed while Servicing his Car

A man was robbed of his wallet and cell phone Tuesday while he was servicing his car at a gas station in Estate Tutu, the V.I. Police Department said.

Police were notified of the robbery about 9:30 p.m. The man, who was not identified by police, told officers he was getting air in his tire when three men approached him and robbed him of his wallet and iPhone.

One of the suspects hit him in his head with a gun he was carrying. The suspects fled the area in an unknown vehicle.

The victim was treated at the Schneider Regional Medical Center for a laceration to his head and later released.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau urged anyone with information regarding the case to tell police by calling detectives at 1-340-714-9834 or 1-340-715-5522, by calling the 911 emergency center or the anonymous tip service, Crimes Stoppers USVI, 1-800-222-8477.

A message can also be sent by texting “USVI” plus a message to CRIMES 274637.
