Chase Ends with Arrest, Firearm Confiscated

Police on St. Croix arrested 26-year-old Avery Davis and confiscated a firearm Wednesday after the suspect tried to evade police in his vehicle and then on foot, police said Thursday.

According to the report from the V.I. Police Department, officers were investigating a domestic disturbance in the Harbor View Apartments when they heard two shots fired. Officers notified the 911 dispatch center, and then proceeded to investigate the origin of the shots.

Concerned citizens told police a blue Ford Focus had driven through the area at a high rate of speed.

Police were able to stop a similar vehicle in the Little Princess area. The suspect, who was later identified as Avery, allegedly fled the vehicle on foot but was apprehended by officers. A firearm was also confiscated during the arrest, police said.

Avery was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and placed on a $25,000 bail. He was remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending further court action.
