Police Investigate Two Robberies

Two separate first-degree robberies, apparently unrelated, took place over the weekend, according to the V.I. Police Department, and cash was taken from the victims but no one was injured.

The first robbery occurred in Estate Whim just before 2 a.m. Saturday. The victim said he arrived in front of his home and was rushed by two men. One suspect pointed a gun at him and demanded money, and the victim gave the suspect approximately $1,000 from his pockets. The suspects then left the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim said he did not recognize the suspects and he was not harmed.

The second robbery occurred about 11:45 p.m. Sunday in Estate Smithfield. The victim said when he arrived home he was approached by a slim man dressed in black with a black bandana covering his face. Another suspect stood to the side of the house. The suspect demanded money and the keys to the vehicle, which the victim gave him. Both suspects fled the scene with the victim’s 2011 black four-door Jeep Compass, license plate CELL 609. An all points bulletin was issued for the vehicle.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau are following up on the cases. Anyone with information can call detectives at 1-340-712-6077, 1-340-712-6037, the 911 emergency dispatch center or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
