Police Investigate an Apparent Drowning

A man apparently drowned Tuesday at a residence in Estate Sierra Verde on Cotton Valley, the V.I. Police Department reported in a news release.

The 85-year-old male victim was found by his wife unresponsive in the family pool.

Police were notified of the incident about 5 p.m. Tuesday. The victim’s wife said she had left her husband relaxing by the pool after lunch and went out. She returned about 4:30 and found him face down in the pool.

Emergency medical technicians, Fire Services and VIPD were on the scene. The victim was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are following up on this case.
