Joseph Adolphus Liburd Dies in New York

Joseph Adolphus Liburd, “Joe the Tailor from Ruby,” died peacefully at home in Mount Vernon, New York, with his son, Steven; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline; and grandson, Jeremy; at his bedside. Born Sept. 18, 1916, Joseph Liburd died on Jan. 9, 2014.
He was predeceased in 2005 by his wife of 48 years, Ramona Liburd, and daughter, Barbara, in 1974. Joseph leaves behind five children: Vida, Steven, Joseph, Therese and Victor; daughters-in-law: Jacqueline, Labrena and Kumari; sons-in-law: Alexander and Bill; grandchildren: Lorenzo, Osmond, David, Cassandra, Kathryn, Isaiah, Christina, Jeremy, Jaela, Chaka, Jonathan, Stephanie, Michelle and Toussainte; sister-in-law, Gwenn Britto; and great-grandchildren: Steven and Justin. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention also mourn his passing.
There will be a viewing held at 9:30 a.m. and a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
