Police Investigate First-Degree Rape

Police on St. Thomas are investigating a first-degree rape that occurred about 8 a.m. Monday near an alleyway on Wimmelskaft Gade in the area of Back Street.

According to police, the victim was completing her morning walk when an unknown man grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her. She said the suspect displayed a knife and threatened her with it.

The 20-year-old victim told police she did not realize that anyone was following her until she was grabbed. She said the suspect was between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with a dark complexion, and hairy arms and hands.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are investigating this case.
