Crime Stoppers: Make Sure Crime Doesn’t Pay

Crime Stoppers is asking your continued help making the Virgin Islands a safe place to live, work and raise a family. If you know something, say something as the cost of all crime is ultimately paid for by the law abiding citizens of the community via higher prices and higher taxes.

St. Croix: On Dec. 26 about 9:15 p.m., police received a call about shots fired in the vicinity of the basketball court near Building 2 in the Mutual Homes housing community. Upon arrival, police found an unresponsive male, later identified as 20-year-old Marvin Sylvester, dressed in black shorts, black shirt and black slippers, and lying on the sidewalk with several gunshot wounds to his body. Detectives need your help to find the person(s) involved in the death of this young man. Tell us what you know and help put an end to this insanity. VIPD asks: “Please make that call.”

St. John: On Dec. 22 the Stone House Villa in Upper Carolina was burglarized. The resident told police he locked and secured the villa at about 1 p.m. and that when he returned at 4:50 p.m., he discovered the front door was unlocked as were all the doors inside the villa. Items stolen include his white Beats headphone, a black Jambox and a red Casio watch. Please help police identify the burglar.

St. Thomas: On Dec. 25 at 4 a.m., a man in the area of Jala Jala of Kronprindsens Gade got into a verbal altercation with an unknown individual. The man reported he struck the individual and then saw another unknown male point and shoot a handgun at him. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the body and lacerations to his head. Help identify the shooter.

Please continue to work for the good of all by telling us what you know about these or any other crimes at www.CrimeStoppersUSVI.org or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can also text “USVI” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

If your tip leads to an arrest or the recovery of stolen property, illegal drugs or weapons, you will receive a cash reward to be paid according to your instructions.
