Store Owner Injured By Gun Shot

Two men were robbed and one was shot Sunday outside the Ezzart Grocery store in Altona, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The gunshot victim was struck on the left side of his abdomen and was treated at the Schneider Regional medical Center.

According to the police, officers were notified about 8:20 p.m. Sunday.

The store’s owner told police that he was outside the store with another man when they were approached two masked men dressed all in black and carrying handguns. The suspects took the bystander’s wallet, jewelry and keys and then shot the owner in his stomach, according to the report. Both suspects fled the area on foot.

Police did not release the names of either victim, pursuant to a policy to not identify nonfatal victims.
