Children at Juan Luis Hospital Get Surprise Christmas Presents

The St. Croix Democratic Party and Molina Medicaid Solutions showed up at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital on Christmas morning, spreading the holiday spirit with presents for children in the pediatric ward and a traditional Crucian breakfast and fresh bush tea for the medical staff.

Democratic Party District Chairman Brad Nugent said in a press release it was "a small gesture, on behalf of the district’s Democratic Party, to express their appreciation for the hard working men and women at the hospital while also bringing a little ease and comfort to the hospital’s youngest guests.”

Luis Sylvester, USVI Molina Medicaid Solutions executive director, said the company “is grateful for the opportunity to support this year’s effort" and that Molina provided almost 100 gifts for visiting children and the catered breakfast for hospital employees.

Molina Healthcare is a FORTUNE 500 company that arranges for the delivery of health care services and offers health information management solutions for individuals who receive care through Medicaid, Medicare and other government-funded programs. Molina provides services for more than 5 million individuals and families in 17 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Some 20 members of the Democratic Party including Delegate Donna M. Christensen and Sens. Sammuel Sanes, Kenneth Gittens and Diane Capehart took turns handing presents to new mothers in the maternity ward and thanking several nurses on hand for their service to the community, according to the party’s statement.
