The Westin St. John Resort & Villas’ Shamir Joseph Is Hotel Associate of the Year

The Westin St. John Resort & Villas has announced that Guest Relations Manager Shamir Joseph was recently awarded the prestigious 2013 U.S. Virgin Islands Hotel Associate of the Year Award (USVI HTA).
The award was announced at the 12th Annual Tommy Star Awards and Gala and was presented by the USVI Hotel & Tourism Association on Nov. 16. He was given the award based on his demonstration of excellent customer service, pride in his work and knowledge of the U.S.V.I.’s hospitality industry.
“Shamir Joseph embodies our entire team’s commitment to providing the best Caribbean experience for our guests in St. John,” said Mike Ryan, general manager at The Westin St. John Resort & Villas. “He is both an ambassador for our island and a delight for our guests.”
Joseph’s integral role in the property’s team began in February 2012 when he started as a guest relations agent before being promoted to his current position as guest relations manager. Among his ongoing responsibilities to heighten each guest’s experience, he is tasked with GPS initiatives, owner relations and more.
Additional categories presented at the 12th Annual Tommy Star Awards and Gala were Airline Representative of the Year, Restaurant Associate of the Year, Retail Associate of the Year, Public Service Representative of the Year and others. The USVI HTA aims to foster and advance the hotel and tourism industry in order to improve economic growth of the destination and its members.
