Police Charge Woman with Withholding Information

Major Crime detectives on St. Croix have arrested Carol T. Barnes and charged her with concealing or failing to report information in a June felony, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Detective arrested Barnes at about 8 a.m. Friday on a warrant issued from the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands. She was charged with misprision of a felony, false reporting and interfering with an officer discharging his duty.

Detectives said the charges stem from the ongoing investigation into the fatal shooting of Andy J. Peters in Lorraine Village Apartments in June. Police said Barnes concealed or failed to report a felony and made false reports to police concerning the case, thus hindering officers in their investigation.

She was placed on a $10,000 bail and remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending her advice of rights hearing. Detectives said arrests of additional individuals on similar charges might be made shortly.
