Police on St. Croix are investigating a robbery Saturday in the parking lot of the Tropical Ten Pins bowling alley.
According to a report from the V.I. Police Department, the victim’s truck was stolen during the robbery but was recovered by police hours later.
Police were dispatched to the incident just before 11 p.m. The 48-year-old owner of the pickup told police he was walking to his vehicle when two men approached him from the rear. Both suspects had guns, masks covering their faces, and were dressed in black clothing, the victim said.
He told police the suspects threatened him and demanded his cell phone and the keys to his 2010 green Toyota Tundra.
Police found the vehicle at about 9 a.m. Sunday in the same area as the robbery occurred.
St. Croix Police Chief James said officers responded within minutes of the report of the robbery, crediting the quick response for the recovery of the vehicle.
“The officers cordoned off the perimeter. The suspects could not get the vehicle out of the area. They had to abandon it,” he said.
The case is being followed up by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
