Mother Charged with Injuring Teen Son

A St. Thomas mother was arrested Wednesday morning and she and her teenage son were both treated for injuries after an incident police are calling domestic violence.

The incident occurred about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the V.I. Police Department.

According to the report, an altercation took place between a 35-year-old mother and her 16-year-old son. The son told police his mother struck him several times in his head with a glass ornament, causing injuries. The mother had lacerations on her right hand.

Both the mother and son were treated at the Schneider Regional Medical center and released.

The mother, who was later identified as Tara M. Babrow, was placed under arrest and charged with third-degree assault / domestic violence. She was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
