Fugitive Betty Ann Young Surrenders to Police

Betty Ann Young, wanted by the V.I. Police Department on charges relating to an assault earlier in July, turned herself in to police Monday night, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The VIPD had issued a "wanted poster" for Young on Monday. The suspect turned herself in after learning she was wanted, the police said.

According to reports, Young stabbed a man with a florescent light bulb and had been evading police for several weeks. Police said that on July 9 Young called her former boyfriend to fix her vehicle, which he did. She was driving him home when an argument ensued and Young stabbed the victim in his back with a florescent light bulb.

The victim was hospitalized for at least two days before being released.

Young is charged with third-degree assault and contempt of court in a domestic violence case.
