Deshawn Samuel was arrested Tuesday upon his release from the Schneider Regional Medical Center and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Samuel, who is 20-years-old, was being treated for a gunshot wound to his leg which occurred when the vehicle he was traveling in was fired upon June 6 in the Four Winds Plaza area. During the investigation detectives said they recovered a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun that was in Samuel’s possession during the shooting.
An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday from the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands for Samuel. He was arrested at about 2:40 p.m. His bail was set at $25,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
