Nonfatal Shooting Injures Two Near Four Winds

Two men were injured by gunshots Thursday evening near the Four Winds Plaza, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The shooting occurred at about 7 p.m. and the two victims were taken to Schneider Regional Medical Center. Officers were dispatched to the hospital to investigate this case.

The names of the two victims were not released, in accordance with a VIPD policy not to name victims of nonfatal assaults.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau interviewed the two men, who said they were traveling in a car in the area of Four Winds Plaza when someone began firing shots at them. The driver then lost control of the vehicle and collided with another vehicle that was driving in the area. The driver, age 20, was struck on his left elbow by at least one gunshot. The passenger, 23, was struck several times in his left leg.

The injured men said they did not see who shot at them.

The case is being followed up by the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives.
