Army Pfc. Shaquille J. Roberts/St. Thomas
June 7, 2013 (Defense Media Activity) — Army Pfc. Shaquille J. Roberts has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, and physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
Roberts is a 2012 graduate of Ivanna Edura Kean High School, St. Thomas.

Army National Guard Pvt. Jmoy J. Francis/St. Thomas
June 10, 2013 (Defense Media Activity) — Army National Guard Pvt. Jmoy J. Francis has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, and physical fitness he also received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
Francis is the son of Carla Ritter of St. Thomas.

Navy Seaman Recruit Jahlanda L. Smith/St. Croix
June 14, 2013 (Fleet Hometown News Center) — Navy Seaman Recruit Jahlanda L. Smith, daughter of Claudette D. Taylor of Tampa, Fla. and Valentine Smith, of Christiansted, V. I., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
During the eight-week program, Smith completed a variety of training that included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.
The capstone event of boot camp is "Battle Stations." This exercise gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet. "Battle Stations" is designed to galvanize the basic warrior attributes of sacrifice, dedication, teamwork and endurance in each recruit through the practical application of basic Navy skills and the core values of honor, courage and commitment. Its distinctly Navy flavor was designed to take into account what it means to be a sailor.
Smith is a 2010 graduate of Spoto High School of Riverview, Fla.

Army Reserve Pfc. Olga T. Martinez-Milligan/ St. Croix
June 19, 2013 (Defense Media Activity) — Army Reserve Pfc. Olga T. Martinez-Milligan has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values as well as physical fitness. She received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Martinez-Milligan is the daughter of Angel Martinez of St. Croix.
She is a 2009 graduate of St. Croix Educational Complex, St. Croix.
Army Pvt. Delano L. Holman/St. Thomas
June 19, 2013 (Defense Media Activity) — Army Pvt. Delano L. Holman has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values as well as physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Holman is the son of Rosemarie Jefferson of St. Thomas.
He is a 2010 graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School, St. Thomas.

He also practiced physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Francis is the son of Carla Ritter of St. Thomas.
Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Noah K. Tobias/St. Croix
June 24, 2013 (Fleet Hometown News Center) — Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Noah K. Tobias, son of Christina and William Tobias of Kingshill, V. I., recently graduated from the United States Naval Academy (USNA) in Annapolis, Md., and was commissioned to his current rank.
Tobias successfully completed four years of intensive academic, physical and professional training. As a graduate of the Naval Academy, Tobias completed a four-year, total-immersion program where a strong, balanced academic program focused on the educational needs of the Navy and Marine Corps, is superimposed on a strict, professional military training environment emphasizing the development of leadership skills.
The class of 2013 graduated 1,047 men and women including 603 Navy ensigns and 223 Marine Corps second lieutenants. Established in 1845, USNA is considered one of the top institutions in the country. This is the academy’s 163rd traditional graduation ceremony, graduating approximately 79, 900 midshipmen to include 4, 000 admirals and generals, one president, 200 members of Congress, three governors, 73 Medal of Honor recipients, one Nobel Prize winner and 40 astronauts.
Tobias is a 2009 graduate of St. Croix Country Day School of Kingshill, V. I.
Army Pfc. Neville E. Patrick/St. Thomas
June 26, 2013 (Defense Media Activity) — Army Pfc. Neville E. Patrick has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.
Patrick is the son of Hyacinth Turnbull of St. Thomas.
Army Pvt. Tafari K. Carter/St. Croix
June 28, 2013 (Defense Media Activity) — Army Pvt. Tafari K. Carter has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
Carter is the son of Lauretta Joseph and the stepson of Micah Joseph, both of Fredricksted.
He is a 2012 graduate of St. Croix Central High School, Kingshill.
