Deadline Extended for Certified Public Manager Program

The U.S. Virgin Islands Division of Personnel, in partnership with the University of the Virgin Islands Institute for Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness, has extended the deadline for submitting applications to participate in the V.I. The first of its kind in any U.S. territory, the program is a nationally recognized management development certificate program specifically for managers in federal, state and local government, and non-profit organizations. The program prepares participants for the challenges and demands of the public management profession.

“Supervisors and managers within the V.I. Government can complete the VI CPM program in 12 months as part of a cohort," said Kenneth L. Hermon Jr., director of the Division of Personnel. The cohort is group that attends classes collectively, three days a month, becoming certified public managers together. The first cohort of the VI CPM Program is slated to begin July 9.

An application for the VICPM’s 2013-2014 GVI Colleague Group, as well as additional program information, can be obtained from the Division of Personnel’s website at www.dopusvi.org. Additionally, a 30-minute public service announcement will air regularly on the Government Access Channel until the end of the month.

Scholarships to attend the program are also available.
