Online Employer Hiring 100 in USVI

ConnectSpace.vi is looking to hire 100 employees in the Virgin Islands to work from their homes as "personal technology experts" on behalf of a Silicon Valley-based partner that offers technical services to some of America’s largest companies, according to Government House.

“When we first envisioned the project to bring high-speed Internet to the Virgin Islands, the potential for generating employment opportunities was a key driving force – jobs that broadband Internet would facilitate by not only encouraging high-tech companies to relocate to the Virgin Islands, but by allowing our skilled professionals to work remotely for major companies outside of the territory," Gov. John deJongh Jr. said in a statement released late Monday. "Now we are beginning to see the fruits of this vision at a time when our territory needs quality, well-paying jobs more than ever."

ConnectSpace.vi, a program of the viNGN and Broadband USA, has a mission to leverage the territory’s new broadband resources to create career opportunities for Virgin Islanders while promoting entrepreneurship values to build a sustainable community.

Virgin Islanders interested in the recently announced positions can apply and take the remote service technician exam on the programs website: www.connectspacevi.com.

The new positions require IT and support acumen and experience. But Virgin Islanders without the necessary technical skills who are interested in those kinds of jobs can sign up for Digital Literacy Training at www.vingn.com to advance their digital literacy and prepare for future positions.

Anyone with questions can send an email to connectspace.vi at interconnection.

ConnectSpace.vi is hosting informational sessions about these positions at their broadband “hubs” in Frederiksted on St. Croix and Havensight Dock on St. Thomas. Information about these events can be found at www.connectspacevi.com.
