While there wasn’t a quick knockout this time around, 340 Boxing champion John Jackson still won over the crowds in Atlantic City as he dominated round after round against Cerresso Fort on this week’s ESPN2 Friday Night Fights card.
After going the full eight rounds, it was announced that Jackson had won by unanimous decision (77:75, 79:73, 79:73). Listening to commentators as the bout unfolded, it appeared that Jackson’s two greatest advantages was his uppercut and right hook, which allowed him to take every round except the fourth.
"During this round, he (Fort) was just smothering me, and I allowed him to get and stay inside a little longer than I should have," said Jackson, who is now 16-1 with 14 knockouts. "But I was able to come back in and recover, and I’m grateful for that. It was really a great experience and a great fight."
After the fight 340 Boxing manager Jose Rosario said, "It’s not every fight that we’re going to win by knockout. That’s why, when we come out, we have to be very decisive in what we do – win every round as it comes. This guy could clearly take a punch, but John did very well, and it was a great experience for him."
