Big Boom Startles Coral Bay Residents

A big boom that sounded like an explosion around 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Coral Bay got the attention of many residents. Several fire trucks were seen heading up Centerline Road from Coral Bay with their lights flashing.

Not to worry. Police Department spokesman Melody Rames said Friday that a transformer blew and the boom came from sound bouncing off the hillsides that surround Coral Bay.
