Corrections Transfers 65 Inmates

Over the weekend, the V.I. Bureau of Corrections transferred 65 inmates, some to St. Croix and others to corrections facilities on the mainland, according to Julius C. Wilson, director of the bureau.

In an announcement release Tuesday, the director said the transfers were based on a series of variables, including management, security and consolidation efforts.

Family members of the transferred inmates requiring information can call 1-340-775-3531 for the Criminal Justice Complex on St. Thomas and 1-340-778-0400 for the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility on St. Croix.

The bureau thanked its fellow law enforcement entities for their help in effecting the transfer, including the V.I. Superior Court, Police Department, Department of Planning and Natural Resources, Marine Unit, Port Authority, the U.S. Customs & Border Protection and the Transportation Security Administration.
