Woman Robbed While Disposing of Garbage

A woman taking out her trash late Wednesday was robbed at gunpoint, police on St. Thomas were told.

According to reports, the victim told police the robbery happened at about 11 p.m. As she was throwing away trash in the garbage bin near the Lionel Roberts Stadium, a young male ran up to her brandishing a handgun and demanded her cellular phone, her gold earrings and 17-inch gold necklace, which she gave him. Another suspect who was carrying a long gun approached her and searched her vehicle, took her keys from the ignition and threw them on the ground. Nothing else was taken from the vehicle, according to police.

Both suspects left the area on foot the victim said.

The suspects were described as between 19 and 21 years old. Both had bandanas covering their faces.

The case is being followed up by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
