Community Gathers to Thank Dr. Jan Perkins Fielding

Dr. Jan Perkins Fielding and BlakeDr. Jan Perkins Fielding has made a huge difference on St John. Friends and fans of the local veterinarian will get together for great local music, story-telling and community between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, at Skinny Legs for an event intended to thank her for the great difference she has made on St John and to wish the Fieldings all the best in their new life in Washington State.
For more than 10 years, island residents have known they could call Dr. Jan day or night to help an animal in need. Dog or cat, donkey or deer, turtle or bird — everyone had the same loving care from Dr. Jan, who gladly made house-calls or saw patients in her Mobile Pet van, sometimes at no charge or at an adjusted rate. But all things change, and soon Jan and her husband Bruce will be on their way to a new home.
Anyone with good pictures of Jan or the critters that have loved her can e-mail jpeg images to Judy Buchholz at judybuchholz@me.com or leave actual photos at Keep Me Posted or at Connections, East or West, by Tuesday, April 16.
Thank-you notes and cards from Jan’s many animal friends, past and present, may also be left at the mail sites or given to Jan at the party.
