DOL Begins Accepting Summer Youth Employment Applications

The Department of Labor has begun accepting and processing Summer Youth Employment applications for the approximate 450 slots. Applications are available from and can be submitted electronically through the department’s Web site at www.vidol.gov (under the forms tab). Applications can also be picked up at public high schools, public libraries and at any of the DOL office locations, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the V.I. Department of Labor.
A Summer Employment Fact Sheet is also available online providing additional information for participants and parents. This summer, special priority will be assigned and applied to participants who:
a) have not previously received a work experience
b) 11th graders and 12th grade graduates
c) out-of-school/unemployed and dislocated youth
Young people under the age of 18 should be accompanied by a parent/guardian to sign an authorization for participation in the program. All applicants should be prepared to provide (a) proof of their educational and legal residency status (b) proof of enrollment in college or high school (c) evidence of a social security card (d) Photo ID and copy of a resume if available.
