Company Street Open to Vehicular Traffic Until Further Notice

A paving operation scheduled to begin today at 4 a.m., March 5, on St. Croix’s Company, Queen Cross and King Cross Streets has been cancelled due to the inclement weather. Company Street will be open to vehicular traffic today from Church Street to the Hendricks market, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority. WAPA and J. Benton Construction will provide an update later today about when the work will be rescheduled.
The trenching and laying of conduits on Company Street between King Cross and Prince Streets will continue today as the Christiansted Underground Project nears completion by the end of the month. All sidewalks in town will be open to foot traffic.
Motorists are urged to use the Christiansted Bypass and Watergut Road to enter and exit town. Updates about traffic detours or schedule changes will be available through www.vialert.gov, on WAPA’s Web site at www.viwapa.vi or on the authority’s Facebook page. For inquiries about the project, e-mail communications@viwapa.vi or call 773-2250 ext. 4085 or 2050 or 690-5758.
