V.I. Fire Service Announces Ban on All Burning Permits

Effective immediately, new burning permits will not be issued territory-wide (St. Croix, St. Thomas-St. John Districts) until further notice, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the Virgin Islands Fire Service.
“Due to the dry weather, the burning of rubbish at this time would be extremely hazardous," Daryl A. George, assistant director, said. “It is appropriate that this ban be put in place as we must take all precautions and work together in being proactive in safeguarding property and life.”
